UNIFORM PRESENTATION

Smits was the most famous Dutch designer of military uniforms and emblems. He was also known as an illustrator. He drew pictures of Dutch uniforms for many publications (including Armamentaria, the yearbook of the Army Museum, and the Legerkoerier, the information and personnel magazine of the Royal Netherlands Army). In 1975 he was appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau. He was also a bearer of the War Memorial Cross and the Resistance Memorial Cross.
